Rick Hiemenz Knight of the monthA |
May's Knight of the Month is Rick Hiemanz. For years Rick has been the Kitchen Boss. You've always seen him at the Parish Breakfasts. He also works in the Kitchen at most of our other events. Always in control, knows where everything is and where everything goes - and just the right timing to get all those hungry Knights fed.
Rick and his wife Gerri take regular trips on their custom Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle. Sometimes gone for a month or two 'just seeing the world'. I personally think he is happiest when he is flying down the road on that Honda.
Bryce and Fr. Bill |
Brother Knight Bryce Rainey is a relatively new resident who recently joined our parish. He's our youngest Brother Knight (21 years old), currently residing with his parents in the Village. His phone number and email address are available on the Knights membership roster on the KofC HSV website. Fr. Bill Elser was Bryce's sponsor for Knighthood with our Council.
Bryce is an accomplished pianist and has recently played music before our 8 and 10 a.m. Masses on Sunday. Bryce is a regular attendee at the weekday morning Masses and a perpetual adorer at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. He was Exemplified and invested into the Charity, Unity, and Fraternity Degrees of our brotherhood on Sunday, May 16th, after the 10 a.m. Mass with 24 Knights, the Worthy Chaplain, and his parents attending the ceremony. Give him a hearty welcome at the June 8th Council meeting, brothers.
Bryce has applied for and has been accepted to enter a Franciscan Monastery (Capuchin) in Oklahoma this July.
(Thanks to Brother Knight Tom Donnely for information on this article)
Council 10208 hosted a Mother's Day Parish Breakfast after both morning Masses on Sunday, May 9th.
There were about 125 parishioners that took advantage of a very scrumptious breakfast of Sausage and Eggs, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, and juice, coffee. A great time was had by all!!

Ken Silvers April Knight of the Month |
All of Ken's - Kitchen Crew have a great time working along with Ken. It doesn't take long after everyone is assigned a job and the hot food starts flyin' that Ken might break out in a song from Willy Nelson or Janice Joplin. Everyone is welcome to join in because the food is great and no one cares what we sound like. Just working with Ken and the Kitchen Crew is one of the best jobs in the Council.
Family of the Month - Mike and Annie Webster |
Annie, still works from home and hopefully will retire at the end of the year. She helps set up and tear down for the parking lot masses, she is an EM , and lector. She helped with the SC Covid days when we hosted. She also helps during Holy Week volunteering for anything Fr. Bill needs.

He is also in charge of the lectors and also EM. Set up for the parking lot and tear down. Volunteers for Mens Club Meals on Wheels and the Knights County Meals on Wheels, volunteer to set and take down the crosses of life in front of church and volunteer for Trash pick up for the Men's Club.
The Certificate of Merit is presented by the Council for only the most significant contributions. Over the past couple of months, we have observed a truly impactful accomplishment by one of our Brothers.
In late December, Bill Nosek heard that the Health Mart pharmacy would be coordinating the distribution of the COVID vaccine in the Village.
Bill contacted the owner and discussed their plan and suggested assistance from the Knights may be beneficial.
After consultation with the Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator, Bill was full speed ahead with integrating the support of the Knights of Columbus into the Health Mart Plan.
Bill’s vision was realized with Knights volunteering at several clinics (6-8) held at two churches in the Village.
He involved the District Deputy in one of those clinics, which led to the Knights in the Hot Springs council assisting with a clinic in Hot Springs.
Bill then wondered why we shouldn’t do a clinic here at Sacred Heart. With the support of Fr. Bill, the Sacred Heart clinic became a reality last Thursday, where 527 people received their first dose of the vaccine!
Thanks to Bill’s vision, initiative and COUNTLESS NUMBER OF PHONE CALLS the Knights have now assisted in the distribution of over 13,000 doses of the COVID vaccine to residents of the Village and surrounding area.
On behalf of the Brothers of Council 10208, the Certificate of Merit was presented to Bill Nosek.
Without Bill's foresight, the Knights would have not been involved in assisting with the distribution of the Vaccine nor would have Sacred Heart been a Vaccine Distribution clinic. God Bless you Bill for all you do for the Council and Sacred Heart Church.
