On December 3rd, 2015, Brother and Sir Knights gathered in the Lower Hall to bid farewell to a magnificent couple, and an intricate part of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, John and Carolyn Bodensteimer.  John, as a member of the Council and Assembly, was Chancellor, Grand Knight, Trustee, Communications Director (council and assembly), Web Site Administrator, and CPID director at both state and local level, coordinator of Coats for Kids, and the Keep Christ in Christmas billboards.  He chairs on-site meals for Homeless Vets at St. Francis House, is a regular volunteer for placing flags on the Church campus, and is the e-coordinator for bi-monthly Red Cross blood drives at the Village United Methodist Church.

For Sacred Heart, he is an altar server, lector, Eucharistic minister, prayer warrior, perpetual adoration adorer, director of Disaster Response Team, and member of Social Justice and Charitable Outreach Committee.  John is coordinator of the local Rice Depot Food for Seniors Program, and he participates in Camp for the Blind bowling, Habitat for Humanity, Christmas Basket Program, bingo at Good Samaritan, highway clean-up with the Men's Club, and the HSV community theatre.

Carolyn was active as a Sunday mass cantor, a member of the Sunday Choir, and the Resurrection Choir.  She is active in the Ladies of the Sacred Heart, helps at Special Olympics, Jackson House Crisis Center, bingo at Good Samaritan, and is a regular blood donor.  She is very invloved in the HSV community theatre Players as an officer, director and actor.

After much reflection and payer, John and Carolyn have made the decision to move to Kansas to be closer to their grandchildren. There was a wonderful turnout, two beautiful cakes, and a good time was had by all.  Click on the Photos tab for more photos of this event.

Thank you John and Carolyn. You guys will be missed!
