"A brief note to thank you ever so much for your beautiful greeting and for your wonderful and gracious Spiritual Bouquet.  I welcome and truly treasure this powerfull and holy gift.  There is no substitute for these prayers and the fact that I am aware of your praying for my needs of body and soul both at home and and at the Church.  In appreciation for your great gift, I will continue to remember you and your intentions at the Altar here."

Poem by Knight John McGrail

The Lord looked down on a Kansas farm,
In a time not long ago,
And smiled at a timid, thin faced lad,
Who was helping his dad with a hoe.

God spoke to this lad in His silent voice,
It's the voice that angels hear.
And He told that boy that He loved him so,
That He wished for this child to stay near.

Well that boy grew up to be a gangling teen,
Doing things that all teenagers do.
But in his heart, he kept hearing that voice,
And he knew that God's message was true.

So this boy bid goodbye to his mom and his dad,
And followed God's message—to come.
He entered the Priesthood of Almighty God,
And he walked to the beat of God's drum.

Well that drum leads that boy many places.
Not just altars and rectories and such.
But into the jungle where hell’s at your heels,
And your life isn't worth very much.

But that Priest kept walking and jumping from planes,
And following God as he trod,
And hearing that voice he heard as a child,
When he first fell in love with his God.

God knew what He wanted when he called on "Vic",
He wanted a man who could teach.
He wanted a man full of courage and charm,
That lived every word he would preach.

So into the danger of war very real,
Through the blood and the death and the stench
Walked a man very humble, with Christ in his hand,
And a will to bring Jesus, no fear could quench.

Who is this Victor that Christ did once call?
This humble and pious good Priest,
This man of the people, this hunter of souls,
Who one day will sit high at God's feast.

Well to most of his faithful, he's just Father Vic,
A Priest we admire and much more.
But to God in His heaven, Vic's His trusted son
Whose work God will always adore.
