Mass was followed by a social period and dinner for 106, including knights, wives, and guests. The dinner, catered by Home Plate, consisted of a salad, a combination of steak and chicken, broccoli and carrots, twice baked potatoes, and turtle cheesecake for dessert.
Deputy Grand Knight Bill Welch served as master of ceremonies for the program. A 15-minute video covered the life and contributions of Founder Father Michael J. McGivney. It was followed by a prayer for his canonization. Bill then presented the book, Parish Priest about Father McGivney’s life, to the bishop and the two priests. Bishop Taylor was also given a monetary gift, and Monsignor Malone and Father Bieberle were each presented with a certificate commemorating the Year of the Priest, which concludes on June 19.
Daniel Stramp presented the knights with general information about LifeNet Ambulance service provided to the residents of the Village. There are four ambulances assigned to the Village with three of them being fully staffed at all times with an emergency medical technician (EMT) and a paramedic. They typically work a 24-hour shift with 48 hours off.
The EMT has taken a five-month course in basic life saving skills for certification, while paramedic certification requires a two-year course of study. The EMT is the driver and assists the paramedic who is responsible for determining and providing the medical treatment.
The goal of LifeNet is to be at the site of the call within 8 minutes at least 90% of the time. LifeNet's goal is currently being met 94.5% of the time. The Village is fortunate, because the paramedics here average over 15 years of experience, which is not the norm for many other areas.

Jesus, the Divine Mercy, asks “Will You Help Me?” Did you know that you can receive special graces from Jesus, The Divine Mercy, for yourself, for loved ones, and especially for the dying? In private revelations, Jesus asked Sister Faustina* to “paint a picture according to the vision you see. I desire that this image be venerated in your churches and throughout the world.” Jesus specifically asked:
Spread devotion to My Divine Mercy on the Feast of Divine Mercy to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter, (April 11 this year) that this powerful prayer, the Chaplet of Mercy, be recited as a Novena of prayers for souls during the nine days before the feast. I desire to grant the soul that will go to confession before the feast and receives Holy Communion on the Feast of Divine Mercy shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment thereof. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy. Whoever will recite the Chaplet will receive great mercy at the hour of death.
The annual two-day silent retreat commencing on Palm Sunday at the Montserrat Retreat House in Lake Dallas TX was recently completed by 23 knights from Council 10208. Most of the knights had attended a retreat there previously, so they were familiar with the St. Ignatian retreat model led by Tim Murphy, a layman Jesuit administrator who conducts about 15 retreats annually in addition to his other duties. Tim and his wife, a speech therapist, live in New Orleans with their three children.
The mission of the Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House "is to bring Christ's message for transforming individuals and society by assisting the local churches of the region through Spiritual Exercises and faith development offered in a variety of forms that are culturally and ecumenically sensitive and inviting."
The Council 10208 1st Degree Team exemplified 16 candidates Sunday afternoon, March 14, in the Upper Hall of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The nine candidates from the local council included Jose Guillermo Caballero, Peter Duffy, Scott Krantz, John Lucas, Jim McDermott, David Montgomery, Bob Rodgers, Bob Steinpreis, and Jack Widlowski. Guillermo, a seminarian studying in Little Rock, is being sponsored by Council 10208 through the RSVP Seminarian Program.

Deacon Anthony Robbins |
The check was sent with assurance that Anthony will be in the prayers of Council 10208 knights.
Deacon Robbins will be ordained on May 22 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock..
In a recent email to Grand Knight John Bodensteiner, Anthony wrote "Thank you for the generous check. It will go to good use as I make my final preparations for the priesthood."
Reveler Bill Hartnett |
The Lower Hall of the church was jazzily decorated to resemble the festive New Orleans French Quarter, including the very authentic looking street lamps to welcome the 200 guests. After some social time during which the costumed revelers strutted their stuff, they were served a garden salad and French bread followed by an entree of either Creole or jambalaya (some tried both). There was delicious homemade king cake to complement the dinner.
Chase Anderson and Taylor Williams topped competitors from around the state at the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The event, held on March 7th in Conway, brought together shooters from ages 10 to 14 who had won at both the local and district levels.

He sank 13 of 15 at the local level, 24 of 25 at the district level, and 21 of 25 at the state championship, where he competed against six other 14 year old boys.
