The Diocese of Little Rock pays the cost of a seminarian's education out of the seminarian endowment fund, charitable bequests and other fundraising activities, such as the Taste of Faith dinners. A virtual Taste of Faith livestream event will air on August 8 at 7:00 p.m. The live webcast can be accessed through the DOLR website (dolr.org), Facebook page or YouTube channel.
You are invited to attend a virtual Taste of Faith “watch party” sponsored by the Knights of Columbus in the Lower Hall. Please call Murray Claassen at 501 908-4346 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve a seat. A drawing for door prizes will follow the video. COVID-19 mitigations, including physical distancing and wearing of masks will be observed.
Please consider making a generous donation to support our seminarians. Checks should be made payable to the Knights of Columbus, with Seminarian Support in the memo line. Your check can be mailed to Rick Phillips, Financial Secretary, 11 Vuelta Lane, Hot Springs Village, AR, 71909; or you can drop your donation check in an offertory basket at mass.
The featured seminarian this week is Christopher Elser. His biography can be found on the DOLR website at https://www.dolr.org/clergy/christopher-elser.
In addition to their classwork, seminarians
attend Mass daily, make a daily holy hour, receive spiritual direction and go regularly to the sacrament of Reconciliation. In prayer, they seek God's will for their lives and acquire the spiritual maturity they will need as seminarians and, God willing, priests of Jesus Christ.
Thank you to all of our generous SHJ Parishioners that have made a donation in support of our seminarians. If you haven’t yet made your donation, it’s not too late. Donations will be accepted through August 14th. Checks should be made payable to the Knights of Columbus, with Seminarian Support in the memo line. Your check can be mailed to Rick Phillips, Financial Secretary, 11 Vuelta Lane, Hot Springs Village, AR, 71909.
The featured seminarian this week is Tuan Do. His biography can be found on the DOLR website at https://www.dolr.org/clergy/tuan-do.

In 2019 the Knights of Columbus sponsored Taste of Faith Dinner raised $30,000 to support the seminarians in our diocese. Unfortunately, the reality of COVID-19 health concerns forced the cancelation of the Taste of Faith Dinner in 2020. Over the next four weeks the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a campaign to raise funds to support our seminarians. There will be bulletin articles, emails and possibly a “robo call” or two! Each weekly article will include a biography of one of our seminarians.
There are currently 27 seminarians in the Diocese of Little Rock. With the increases in cost and number of seminarians, the diocese needs our help to form our future priests. Msgr. Scott Friend recently said, “We just have to trust that the Lord will provide for us what we need. I know that the Lord will take care of us, our people will take care of us”.
