Resolution of State Council Approving Sites for State Conventions

Whereas it is customary that the State Conventions have been held in cities from district to district on a rotating basis within the Arkansas Jurisdiction.

Whereas the Arkansas Jurisdiction is growing in number of councils, has surpassed 7,000 in total membership, is reactivating dormant councils, has experienced significant growth in those attending State Conventions and desires to continue to foster increased interest in attending State Conventions.

Whereas it is convenient and safe for convention attendees and much more efficient to hold State Conventions at hotel sites that can provide at least four of the following five official State Convention activities: 125 hotel rooms; social hour and banquet facilities for 275; private meeting room for 150 delegates and members with on-site lunch provided for same; five meeting rooms accommodating a minimum of 20 each; and Mass accommodations for 350 participants, all in one location that could include an adjacent or attached facility within a short walking distance.

Whereas the State Council is committed to the safety and comfort of their members and their families and, if one of the above functions must be held at another facility off-site from the host hotel, that facility must be within a short driving distance and easily accessible from the main hotel/convention site and preferably accessible by interstate or limited access highway.

Now Therefore Be It Resolved that the State Council change the procedure of selecting State Convention sites from a district rotation basis to a system of selecting cities with hotel facilities that can provide safe, comfortable and convenient facilities in one location for all members desiring to attend a State Convention.
