The 2014 Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities (CPID) conducted October 10-12 was again co-chaired by Chris Gleason and Milt Spaniel.  Milt focused his attention on business solicitations, and Chris took primary responsibility for processing knight donations and scheduling the volunteers. With 17 knights personally contacting 97 businesses, the amount collected from this effort was almost double that of 2013. Incredibly, the gross total increased from $17,957 to $23,359 with: $6,913 from five gates and three business locations; $5,575 from individual knights; $9,871 from banks and businesses; and, $1,000 from an anonymous donor.

The five Arkansas beneficiaries of this campaign selected by the Council include: First Step ($3,409), Abilities Unlimited ($4,307), and a new beneficiary The Caring Place ($3,941), all in Hot Springs; Camp for the Blind $2,000), and Special Olympics ($5,175). The State Council's portion (15% or $3,323) will go to The Arc-Arkansas in Little Rock.

There was a total of 144 knight volunteers involved with 15 working more than one time slot Friday - Sunday.  Seventeen knights were also involved in directly soliciting banks and businesses.  A special thanks goes to the 14 spouses of knights who helped with the campaign.  There were 121 knights donating the aformentined $5,575 for a $46 average per knight!
