KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

WHEN: Saturday, June 15, 2024WHERE: Hot Springs Village----Granada Golf Course

Click here to download information and entry form.

Knights of Columbus, District 10 Meeting, Sept. 11, 2010
Hot Springs Council 6419 Meeting Hall

Membership: If any Council meets its membership goal by year end 2010 the State Officers will come and prepare dinner.

Malvern round Table: This is still in Ed Millers hands, they have 4 members, and it takes 30 to form a Council.
First Degree Exemplification at our Council, Sunday Sept. 26, once Tom Yerina gives the OK. Those applications not voted on at our regular membership meeting can be approved at an Officers meeting. There is a 1st Degree Exemplification at Jacksonville every 3rd Wed.

There is no 2nd, 3rd Degree exemplification in the system at this time.

4th Degree exemplification to be held in Belle Vista, Oct. 2nd, the same day as two different brat fests and the Boys & Girls Club Golf Tournament. This needs to be pushed since once a knight reaches the 4th Degree he is less likely to quite.

At this time we have 84, 3rd and 26, 1st Degree members not counting Malvern, the rest of our 260 members are 4th Degree.

Retention: Dave Johnson will be working with me and the Membership Committee on this. We have approximately 48, 1st & 3rd Degree members not coming to meetings, 10 of which are 1st degree who we have to get involved. 19 are Honorary or Life members who do not come for many reasons such as health, age etc. It is not necessary to track the 4th Degree members who do not come to the 3rd Degree Council meetings since they seldom quite, they die or move away.

We drew potential members to our Sept. meeting because of Father Bill. We need to find some “pull” type programs for our special “invite” meeting. The Lecturer, Jim Passe, should work with the Committee in this area; ideas?

Knights Insurance can be a selling point for both recruitment and retention. Kofc Annuities are doing better then the majority of other offerings, at this time they have a guarantee of 3%. All Knights have a no cost accidental death benefit of from $1000 to $2500. Keep Randy our insurance agent involved, he is a real benefit in these areas.

Awards: We need to push the VIP and Shining Amour awards plus I would like to develop some form of recognition program for attendance; ideas?

Retention is not a function handled by one or two people, it is a Council responsibility. Maybe we can assign these “missing” members to an active Knight who knows them, or seek them out directly to work on projects; ideas?

Do all new members in the Council now have assigned mentors who help get them involved?

 General Items:

The Hot Springs Council wants us to join them on some upcoming activities.

They are having a Christmas party; Dec. 11 with entertainment and prizes which our membership is invited to.

They would like to start a Knights only golf tournament, with the Councils in this area, Benton, Hot Springs, us and the Round Tables. There could be a traveling trophy and each Council would handle the tournament on a rotating basis. Hans Purkott who chaired this years tournament for St. Johns would like for us to find one of our members (with a positive attitude) who would work with him on this. I have talked with Ron Boudreaux and he has agreed to work with Hans.

From now on we should notify other Councils, Round Tables in our general area whenever we have any special events; besides getting to know each other, picking up new ideas, we can possible accomplish more as a group.

One individual besides the Grand Knight and Financial Secretary should be gathering and maintaining volunteer hour’s information, which includes non-project related activities which count towards our goals.

Just Ask” letters have been sent out by the State Fund Raising Chairman, Gerald Krawczynski, asking for donations for their “Hip Pocket” fund which covers items not other wise planned for. He also wants us to donate money to pay for the mailings.

When we start our drive for the special non-budgeted Vocations Drive (last year we were given an award for the best State Council in this area) we should try and coordinate with all the other Church groups.
