The deputy grand knight is second in command.  He assists the grand knight with council affairs and fulfills all duties assisgned to him by the grand knight.  He  presides at council meetings if the grand knight is absent, and he chairs the retention committee.

He is responsible for establishing the 1st Degree Exemplifications hosted by Council 10208 and conducted by the Council's own team.  He coordinates the dates with the District 10 Deputy and the 1st Degree Captain, reserves the Lower and Upper Halls, and works with the Financial Secretary and the Membership Director to get all eligible candidates to attend.  He attends the ceremonials to be sure that all needs of the team and the guests are satisfied.  He also arranges for a photographer and  gets the information to the Communications Director.  Finally, he arranges for cooled refreshments following the ceremonials.

He should be aware of other 1st Degree ceremonials in the area, in case one of those dates/sites is more convenient for the candidates.
